Mark X. Cicero MD, FAAP is an associate professor of pediatric
emergency medicine (PEM) at the Yale School of Medicine, the
director of the pediatric disaster preparedness program, and
an Attending Physician at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital.
Prior to these appointments, he completed medical school at
State University of New York at Buffalo, pediatrics residency
and chief residency at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s
Daughters, and PEM fellowship at Yale. He holds board certifications
in three disciplines: Pediatrics, Pediatric Emergency Medicine,
and Emergency Medical Services.
Dr. Cicero has designed experiential and didactic curricula
in pediatric disaster medicine, and has numerous publications
about triage and prehospital response. He is a co-medical director
of the Connecticut Emergency Medical Services for Children Advisory
Committee, the immediate past-chair of the program committee
of the Eastern Society for Pediatric Research, and chair of
the Pediatrics Committee of the National Association of EMS Physicians.
Dr. Cicero is the principal investigator for the Pediatric Research In
Disaster Education (PRIDE) network, which has received funding
from an Emergency Medical Services for Children Targeted Issues
Grant and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
