Partnership Communications and Bulletin Developer Student Volunteer
Application Due Date:
September 1, 2023
Are you a communications/journalism student who’s looking to gain real world experience? Want to gain exposure to the Federal Government? The HHS Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response’s (ASPR) Office of Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) is looking for a strong content researching/gathering/collecting writer to assist in the development of our healthcare and public health bulletins that reach over 5,300 subscribers.
CIP coordinates the activities of HHS as the Sector Risk Management Agency for the Healthcare and Public Health (HPH) Sector of Critical Infrastructure. The Office promotes resilience of the Nation’s health infrastructure by leading a dynamic, public-private partnership, drawing from all aspects of the HPH Sector, to prepare for future threats, manage risks and coordinate effective response. CIP aligns its HPH infrastructure activities through partnerships, focusing on key organizations, executives, emergency managers, and subject matter experts. A significant piece of this is CIP’s communications, outreach and engagement with its partners, including the bulletins.
This student volunteer position is with the Office of Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) in the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
This position is 100% remote.
Student Volunteer Position Description
The Partnership Communications and Bulletin Developer Student Volunteer will serve as a key player in CIP’s communications to the HPH Sector and beyond. CIP produces 5 different bulletins on a regular (weekly or bi-weekly) basis providing HPH Sector stakeholders with critical information related to cybersecurity, emergency preparedness and response, infectious diseases and supply chain, among other topics. This position will be involved in the development of these bulletins in multiple ways to include: collecting the content provided by our subject matter experts, summarizing content provided, turning content into bulletins, and then making suggested edits once they are reviewed. In addition, CIP is looking to find ways to “freshen” up these bulletins, and so the Student Volunteer will be encouraged to help in this effort and provide suggestions.
While the bulletin development will be the focus of this Student Volunteer’s time, depending on the student’s background, skillset and interests, CIP will consider leveraging the student’s abilities in other ways when possible and volunteer time/schedule allows, especially when interest is expressed in other arenas.
