Enabling Innovations and Technology (EIT) Office

• Distributed and Agile Manufacturing. EIT is developing a rapidly adaptable, scalable, and distributed network of medicine-producing systems comprised of notes, including drug substance and drug product manufacturing nodes, that complement point-of-care sterile/non-sterile medicine compounding nodes.
  
• On-Shoring of Drug Stubstance and Drug Product Production: EIT is onshoring the production of essential medicines to the U.S.  This will generate domestic self-sufficiency for manufacturing critical, generic API's and finished drug products to prevent future shortages with semi-continuous processing and manufacturing.
• Distributed Saline Manufacturing: EIT is addressing the need t improve the U.S. pharmaceutical base through scalable and distributed manufacturing and production of saline IV fluid therapies with potential to expand into other fluids or medications for infusion therapies or dialysis, at the point of need.
  

Population Scale Fill-Finish: EIT is levaraging Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) aseptic drug packaging via connectable components to create pre-filled delivery systems at development and commercial scale. EIT is developing novel thermal processes that enable production of temperature sensitive vaccines and therapeutics within BFS.

• Foundry for American Biotechnology: EIT established the Foundry for American Biotechnology and is currently assessing supply chain risks for critical drug products and mapping out the upstream chemical supply chain, identifying key starting material and active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) sources.  This will lead to the establishment of practical strategies and improvements to implement for on or nearshoring to reduce risks and ensure continued supply chain in the U.S.
  
• Aero-Mobility Solutions: This is a project that champions the institutionalization of electric aviation. It aims to provide crucial steps from construction, deployment, and operation of a functioning framework of novel aero mobility solutions to deliver medical care and critical medical countermeasures.
  

• BioMap Consortium: In partnership with BARDA and IBMSC, EIT is executing multiple efforts through the BioMap consortium.  The consortium supports and facilitates development of the technological infrastructure within the domestic U.S. bioengineering industry to provide new materials, products, capabilities, and manufacturing paradigms for the Nation.
  
• Equip-A-Pharma: In collaboration with DARPA, the EQUIP-A-Pharma aims to develop informatics-based models to create a real-time digital regulatory approval framework for qualification of pharmacueticals produced in an agile pharmacuetical manufacturing platform.
