National Special Pathogen System

Alternative Text for Time-Based Media

The following is a text alternative description for ASPR's National Special Pathogen System (NSPS) video.

[The video begins with music playing in the background while the ASPR logo and tagline, "Saving Lives. Protecting Americans", are displayed.]

Unknown Female Narrator: How do hospitals, health systems, and healthcare providers know how to respond during infectious disease outbreaks like COVID-19 or Ebola? In 2020 after the U.S. declared COVID-19 a public health emergency, ASPR established the National Special Pathogen System or NSPS to support infectious disease readiness through education, regional coordination, and surge activity funding. NSPS is a nationwide, system-based network that consists of four (4) components: the National Emerging Special Pathogens Training and Education Center or NETEC, 10 regional Ebola and other special pathogen treatment centers, 53 hospital associations, and 62 Hospital Preparedness Program recipients. NSPS has supported our frontline healthcare workers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to shape our response for future special pathogens.

[The narration ends and video concludes with the ASPR logo and tagline, "Saving Lives. Protecting Americans." along with the disclaimer, "Produced at U.S. taxpayer expense".]
