Program Overview

Are you studying computer science or information science with a concentration in SharePoint? You’re invited to volunteer with the Office of Regional Response, Incident Management Team at the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR). We are looking for a creative, driven, and organized student to help us create a SharePoint site that will be used in the pre-event and response phases of the emergency management cycle. The SharePoint site will be used for document management, team collaboration, workflow processes, and sharing of key information across all stakeholders involved in the event and/or response. The strength of our nation's public health and medical infrastructure and the capabilities necessary to quickly mobilize a coordinated national response to disasters and emergencies are vital to our national security. ASPR leads the nation's medical and public health preparedness for, response to, and recovery from disasters and public health emergencies. ASPR collaborates with hospitals, healthcare coalitions, biotech firms, community members, state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, and other partners across the country to improve readiness and response capabilities.

This student volunteer position is with the Regional Response Office, within the Center for Response (CFR) in the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

This is a remote position with the opportunity for limited on site work at either one of the regional offices, or at the operating site of the Incident Management Team during one of our responses.

Student Volunteer Intern Position Description

  • SharePoint page and site design and development
  • Creating SharePoint workflows such as Power Automate and other workflow automation tools
  • Interacts directly with key stakeholders in the planning of assignments and the resolution of day-to-day operational problems
  • Creating lists, document libraries, team collaboration sites

Qualifications

  • In pursuit of a computer science, information science (or the like)
  • Either working on or in possession of Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist
  • Expertise in MS Office products (Word, PPT, Excel)
  • Ambitious, self-starter, proactive

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university (No graduating senior summer 2024)

Start Date and Duration

This position will begin in July 2024 for a flexible duration of 90 to 180 days. The starting date is flexible within the month of July. The number of hours per week for this position will be determined jointly by the volunteer and the program manager.
